11:28 am - Some pictures.

Hey, this is Joey Chaos, mod for Gothiotheque, and I think we should all start using this community! It can be used for all sorts of nifty crap, like posting pictures, music and events. I'm going to post TWO of these things.

Here are a few pictures I thought were cool. The dark ones were shot around the Nanaimo downtown this time last year. I didn't have many friends then so I would just walk around and take pictures. The one of the glass ball was taken in my living room looking over the back yard.

I'm going to be performing at the Nanaimo Cambie on Satruday March 19. It's a benefit show for the Portal Literary Magazine and tickets are only gonna be $5. I'm one of six bands and I'm on first (negative w00t) but it should be fun. We're on from 8:00 - 8:30 so if any of you might be coming from VICTORIA, you can now plan ahead :)

Oh yeah, there's gonna be another Cure tribute show at Cyber City on the 26 of March. I'm DJing there before Seanvance performs so expect a killer show there too.

This month's Black Hole Cafe will take place on Monday, the 13 between 7 and 10 p.m., at the Cambie Cafe, 63 Victoria Crescent. We are very excited to feature musical artists Franklin, Jeremey, Derrin and Blaise, of Carpe Didj'em who will treat the audience to an eclectic journey by fusing psychedelic, industrial, experimental jazz sounds. Come hang out and support local alternative music and find out about Nanaimo's collective arts zine, the Black Hole. Hope to see you all there!

9:03 pm - Black Hole Active

Hey Everyone! A little update on what will be happening for this month's Black Hole...

"Sound Stories", a trio act from Victoria, will be playing the next Black Hole Cafe, which is this coming Sunday, November 21st at the Cambie Cafe, 63 Victoria Crescent, downtown Nanaimo. The show will begin between 7 and 7:30, the cafe closes at 10:30. We are very happy to have an act come from Victoria, so please come and share the appreciation!

Emi, Jordan, and Rachel of Sound Stories will treat the audience with a lo-fi more multimedia folk show, involving some spoken word, drawings, machines, as well as upbeat music, which I've been told has an "ocean voyage" theme. They've played in town as Sound Stories a couple times and should be awesome.

You will also find information on Nanaimo's collective arts zine, also called The Black Hole, including submission information. For anyone who has heard of this and still is not sure where to send their works of celebrations and criticisms of downtown Nanaimo in the form of poetry, articles, doodles and sketches, photography and comics, online submissions can be sent to: blackholecafe@yahoo.com. Questions can also be sent to the same email address. Submissions can also be sent through snail mail to: Nanaimo Zine, PO Box 268, Station A, Nanaimo B.C. V9R 5K9, with a self addressed and stamped return envelope. Deadline is December 21st.

I hope to see many of you out on Sunday and to find your submissions trickiling in over the next few weeks!

12:51 am - New Song

Not a big update. I've got the vocals recorded for one of the songs on my upcoming album. It has no guitar, and Kevin hasn't told me all the things to fix on it yet, but I wanted to post it anyways because I haven't posted anything for a while relating to my music. Here it is. Enjoy. Listen. Share.

7:34 pm - New website is finished!

Hi everyone, Joey Chaos here. No one's been posting in the Gothiotheque recently, so I'm hoping to resurect it by making two announcements! The first one is that version 2.0 of www,joeychaos.com is now complete and up and running! I've also added a forum there and maybe a few of you will start to use it.

The other big announcement? Well, for the first time ever you can see me perform live at the Cambie Cafe, August 15. It is a free all ages show and I hope to see some of you there! Kevlar Kristenstein will be playing guitar, I'm on the vocal chords and it will be loud, electronic and good. I promise. More updates to come.

10:13 pm - Decay of Echoes

I've just recorded vocals for the song "Decay of Echoes" which will appear on my next album. It doesn't sound the greatest seeing as I recorded it on my computer with a $20 microphone, but I'm still proud of it and really want to share it.

10:01 pm - Prelude to Midnight

I'm wondering if I should do a Prelude to Midnight on April 9. Anyone interested? Same as before, just newer music and hopefully more people. Also, I was going to play more local music, mainly Contra terra and Joey Chaos stuff, and possibly some stuff from Nanaimo band Shifted, they're pretty cool.

Anyways, comment if interested, and it might happen again.

11:08 am - Admiration for the Lost

Hey, I've been working on some song lyrics, and here is what I have for one of my newer songs, Admiration for the Lost. Enjoy!

Admiration for the Lost
by Joey Chaos

I flew hard under stormy weather
Did my best to make things work together
Through the fog I tried to find you
Little did I know that I couldn't bind you.

The beacons you sent I failed to see
I cared about you and you for me
But we could not love our own
Self if we tried, all alone

I'm no longer my own ally
Moral support no one can rally
I've betrayed who I am
Who could give me a good God damn?

From once friendly houses I now receive scorn
My life is too tiresome, I am too worn
I shy from the darkness as it burns my skin
The only true light can come from within

The sun shone through the clouds
Icarus lost his wings and he fell
Down to earth, into shrouds
The smoky abyss to burn in hell

I wanted you but alas it was gone.
Foolish notions!
I wept for estranged memories of yore.
Damned emotions!

I broke my wings a thousand times
Can't wait for the day for my bell to chime
Hoping the scars could turn to leather
Elevate me with fictional feathers

I can't deny that I love to sin
My reasons not to are growing thin

Amidst the lost and lonely crowds
A pain that only love could quell
Under the weight the willow bowed
The sinners in that loathsome dell
Weeping for someone to hear them
But only fathomless silence fell

I wanted you but alas it was gone.
Foolish notions!
I wept for estranged memories of yore.
Damned emotions!
